Nutopia is a fast-growing independent television production company with offices in London and Washington DC. We create groundbreaking, factually inspired shows on an international scale. Since our launch just two years ago we have created international formats, won Emmys, achieved record-breaking ratings and created a pioneering new genre of television – the ‘mega doc’. We are currently working on ambitious new projects for History USA and Discovery USA, and in the UK with Channel 4, the BBC and Sky Atlantic.
Nutopia has created a channel-defining approach to huge subjects using audacious, pioneering production values and technology. Our first mega doc was the 12-hour Emmy Award winning America: The Story of US series for History US, described as ‘a groundbreaking initiative of epic proportions.’ Airing in April 2010, it was introduced by President Barack Obama, became the most watched show in History Channel history. With astounding specialist real-world filming techniques and stylised dramatisation, this series bought prestige to the History Channel and several international versions are currently being planned. The House That Made Me, our celebrity format show was described by the UK Times as the “best British format since Undercover Boss”. And 9/11: State of Emergency, an adrenaline-fuelled drama doc, made headlines across the world.
